Check Out the Iconic Jeep CJ-5. It’s Got Guts.
Super Bowl Sunday isn’t just about football, it’s about the outlandish, funny, and memorable commercials, and this year, there will be three Fiat Chrysler ads that air during America’s most popular sporting event.
Four decades ago, the popular Jeep CJ-5 was all the rage, and this ad for the model shows the fun-loving side of the off-road vehicle, with the announcer declaring the CJ-5 has “guts” while a couple speeds over grassy hills. Check out what a Jeep ad looked like 40 years ago:
Beginning in 1973, Jeep CJ models featured a V8 engine built by American Motors Corporation (AMC), and the popular CJ Renegade featured off-road equipment like alloy wheels and a Trac-Lok limited slip rear differential.
The popular model was produced from the early 1950s to the 1980s, until it was replaced by the Jeep Wrangler, which to this day bears a striking resemblance to the open-bodied CJ-5.
For the 2015 equivalent of the adventure-loving model, visit Susquehanna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Wrightsville, PA and test drive a new Jeep Wrangler.
