2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Engine and Drivetrain

The number 392 was added to the Wrangler Rubicon’s name for this exclusive model because of the engine found under the hood. Replacing the standard Rubicon’s 3.6L V6 engine is a 392-cubic inch 6.4L HEMI V8. This larger engine gives the Wrangler a heart-pounding 470 horsepower alongside a matching 470 lb-ft of torque. This drops the Wrangler’s 0-60 time from 6.4 seconds to just 4.5! The engine is mated to the trusted TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The Rubicon 392 upgrades the air intake to the Hydro Guide system with a functional hood scoop for optimal cooling even in the harshest conditions. Additionally, the engine is linked to the Dual-Mode Exhaust System. The system’s two modes are performance and quiet. Performance mode opens a valve in the exhaust system to let out that one-of-a-kind HEMI growl. Meanwhile, quiet mode closes the valve to keep a low profile.

Wrangler Rubicon 392 Off-Roading Equipment

While the Rubicon 392 boasts high-performance power numbers and 0-60 times, it certainly hasn’t lost what makes a Wrangler a Wrangler! The Rubicon 392 earned its Trail Rated badge the same way the V6 Wrangler Rubicon did: by overcoming California’s fearsome Rubicon Trail. Jeep enhanced the Rubicon’s approach, breakover, and departure angles for the 392 to give it greater ground clearance to pass over rugged terrain. Aiding in this ground clearance is a two-inch factory lift with FOX high-performance shock absorbers with upgraded suspension travel. The suspension travel is enhanced even further by the electronic sway bar disconnect. This allows you to unlink the front sway bar at the push of a button to allow the front wheels to rise and drop further, increasing the wheel articulation to pass over trail obstacles more easily. The Rubicon 392 also uses electronic locking front and rear differentials to maintain off-road control by moving all four wheels at the same speed. The aforementioned Hydro Guide air intake system allows the Rubicon 392 to ford up to 32.5 inches of water while still providing plenty of cold air to the engine. This is done by channeling up to 15 gallons of water into the engine bay through three inlets in the functional hood scoop. Then the water is sent out of three distinctive drain locations, keeping water completely separate from the air intake.

Design Features of the 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 392

The most notable difference between the Wrangler lineup and the Wrangler Rubicon 392, besides the V8 engine, is the design. It stands out with a more aggressive overall appearance. From the front, it gives a fierce look with its raised stance that is widened by the beefy all-terrain tires and beadlock-capable wheels under high-clearance fender flares. The wide hood scoop adds to the fierce look. The Rubicon 392 comes only in the Unlimited (four-door) body style and is available with the popular half doors. Stepping inside the Rubicon 392, you’ll find comfortable leather-trimmed seats with ‘Rubicon 392’ embroidered on the backrests. The seats also have premium performance seat bolsters. In front of you, you’ll see a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch digital driver information display, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, and much more.
